Your help needed! Superstars program at Spring Klein Baseball

Spring Klein Baseball has provided a home to Kings players for many years and is vitally important to the Kings program. Whenever Spring Klein asks for help, we help in a big way. Any other response would be inconsistent with our values.

Spring Klein is asking for our help. They have a "Superstars" program for players with exceptional needs. They need our players and teams to help on the field during some Superstars games coming up this fall.

Each Superstars game typically lasts only one or two innings -- typically an hour maximum. The games are casual. Our volunteers will arrive by 6:15 PM and be assigned to a team or buddy. If we show up as a group, they will try to keep our group together.

When volunteers are matched up with buddies they spend the entire game with their player. When the player is batting, they bat with them, when they are fielding, they field with them, and when they are in the dugout, they are with them there as well. Some Superstars are very into the game of baseball, some just want to run the field, and some just want to talk to their buddy the entire evening. Our volunteers don’t need to bring anything, but Spring Klein recommends close-toed shoes and water. Parents will handle any behavioral issues. Volunteers just need to be on the field with their buddies.

If it rains the day of a game, they will typically have to cancel. We will receive an email, and the cancellation will be posted on Facebook on Spring Klein Superstars page. If the fields are wet at all, wheelchairs are not able to make it around the field.

Let's all sign up to help out. The Superstars are ages 4 and up. The games are at Klein Park, starting at 6:30 PM (we arrive at 6:15 PM). These are the remaining game dates:

– Thursday, October 5th
– No game October 12th
– Thursday, October 19th
– Thursday, October 26th Halloween Game
– Thursday, November 2nd
– Thursday, November 9th

High school players: Coach Wilkins is very supportive of this program and asks that you volunteer. Please reach out to one another, coordinate at TSMC or speed class or otherwise work together to help get these games covered.
