What to Expect at Baseball Tryouts
Evaluation areas
- Defense (infield/outfield): footwork, transfer, accuracy
- Hitting: mechanics, bat speed, approach, contact quality
- Pitching: velocity (radar), command, secondary, mound presence
- Catching: receiving, blocking, exchange, pop time
- Athletic testing: 60-yard dash, base running, general athleticism
Bring
Glove, bat, helmet, molded cleats (and turf shoes if available). Catchers: full gear. Pitchers: ready to throw bullpens. Water/meds as needed. No metal spikes.
Format & timing
Check-in & warm-up → 60 time → base running and athleticism → defense → hitting → bullpens. Plan for two hours.
Results
We aim to follow up within ~72 hours by email/phone. Outcomes are either:
- a qualified invitation to a roster (subject to availability, fees, schedule, and program rules), or
- our regrets that we can’t extend an offer at this time (with guidance on next steps).
