Tomball Christian Warriors spin off baseball program as Tomball Kings.
The newly-branded program--the Tomball Kings--will have a separate organizational structure, its own management, and a distinct web presence.
In parallel with its departure from the Texas Christian Athletic League (“TCAL”), the Tomball Christian Warriors homeschool athletics organization has elected to concentrate on football and cheer beginning with the 2019-2020 academic year and will spin off its successful varsity baseball team into an independent organization.
The newly-branded baseball program–the Tomball Kings–will have a separate organizational structure, its own management, and a distinct web presence. Warriors baseball coaches Philip Wilkins and Jim Cason will skipper the Kings varsity team and oversee an expanded program offering that includes fall baseball, year-round training opportunities, and services for homeschool baseball players ages five and older.
The Kings enter the 2019-2020 academic hoping to build upon their success under the Warriors flag. After a rough start in their inaugural, 2015 season, the Tomball team captured the TCAL district title in 2016. It followed up that accomplishment with runner-up finishes in the TCAL state tournament in 2017 and 2018. The team finally fulfilled its goal of a state tournament championship in May, defeating three opponents by a combined score of 39-1 to capture the title.
The North Houston area is rich in baseball talent and boasts one of the highest concentrations of homeschool students in the country. The Kings will need to tap that talent pool to replace the losses to graduation of Pete Stockton (John Brown University) and Jordan Holland (Texas A&M). Stockton and Holland each had no-hitters on the mound for the Tomball team during the 2019 season.
