Spring baseball 2026

Welcome to 2026 spring baseball with the Tomball Kings. This guide provides helpful information about our baseball program, including age divisions, tryouts, schedules, eligibility, and fees.

You may also refer to our baseball programs guide for more complete information concerning our age divisions and seasonal priorities.

Divisions

We have three divisions in our spring 2026 baseball program:

  • Upper school ("high school")
Varsity, junior varsity, and freshman/sophomore teams, with schedules featuring public and private school opponents.
  • Middle school
Eighth grade, seventh grade, and sixth/fifth grade teams. Our eighth and seventh graders play high school prep league and interscholastic opponents. Sixth and fifth graders play an interscholastic schedule.
  • Lower school
Our fourth and third graders compete in the Spring Klein Baseball League.

Tryouts

We hold open tryouts every Friday, 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Premier Baseball of Texas Sports Complex, through Feb 28, 2026. If you cannot attend on Fridays, we will schedule an evaluation for you on another day. Please see our tryout information guide and complete the registration form. We will contact you to schedule an evaluation.

Spring calendar

Playing spring baseball with the Tomball Kings is a significant time commitment that requires accommodation of schedule changes due to inclement weather. We always schedule as far in advance as possible and promptly inform players of any schedule changes.

We operate in an interscholastic and youth baseball market that is among the most competitive anywhere. We expect players to be available to practice or play Monday through Saturday from the beginning to the end of the season.

Barring extraordinary circumstances, the spring season will end on or before May 31 for all divisions. Families of players on a Kings roster should not schedule summer vacations to commence prior to June 3, 2026, to allow a buffer for protracted rainfall or extraordinary circumstances that may cause a delay in season conclusions.

High school players should normally expect five to six team events per week. All prospective high school players should read our spring-season schedule notes for high school players.

Pre-high-school players should normally expect two to four team events per week.

In keeping with Texas baseball tradition for competitive programs, we do not take a spring break. Please do not plan spring breaks, vacations, fishing trips, birthday parties, grandparent visits, mountain climbs, or any other excursions during baseball season that would cause a player to miss a team event.

The only valid reasons for missing team events during baseball season are (i) prior arrangement with the director of baseball operations, (ii) family emergency, (iii) too ill to participate, or (iv) too injured to participate. We will deem an absence for any other reason to be unexcused.

Newton

We encourage all student-athletes to participate in the Newton performance program on a year-round basis. The high school season particularly is intense and physically demanding. Newton is the best way to maintain peak physical condition and competitiveness throughout the season.

Practice schedules

The projected practice schedule for all rosters is as follows:

Roster First practice Practice days Hours
High school Tue Jan 20 Daily (except for game days) 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

  • Seventh graders may attend the Tuesday practices with the 6th and 5th graders.
  • Our respective teams do not practice on their game days.
  • Newton participants will arrive at practice at 3:30 PM and be given twenty minutes to eat a light snack on arrival.

Costs

Players on a Tomball Kings roster for the Spring 2026 season should anticipate roster-related fees and expenses as set forth below.

Item Due Amount
Season fee, high school Jan 20 $1,250.00
Uniform fee, high school (to the extent needed) Jan 16 292.00
Season fee, pre-high school Jan 20 450.00
Uniform fee, pre-high school (to the extent needed) Jan 16 $72.00

Please note that costs include all applicable league fees. 10U players do not need to and should not register with SKSA baseball.

Method of payment

The Kings will invoice you for all fees. Participation in all Tomball Kings activities is subject to timely payment of applicable fees. To request an installment-payment plan, please contact John Harris via email or phone 512-470-0915. Any installment agreements are firm and must be honored timely and without exception.

While not provided through the Kings program, players should also budget for baseball pants, belt, and socks, as set forth in the Tomball Kings dress code and uniform requirements; a baseball glove; a regulation baseball bat; sliding shorts with protective cup; batting helmet of royal-blue color with C-Flap; turf shoes and cleats or spikes in Kings colors or black; sunglasses; and, batting gloves if desired. Catchers must provide their own properly-fitted gear and mitt, with throat protector affixed to the mask and NOCSAE stamp for high school catchers. For your safety we recommend mouth guards, heart guards, and – when batting – elbow and ankle guards.

Note: bats and gloves in particular can be expensive items and must be a good fit for the player. Kings coaches are happy to advise on such items, prior to purchase.

Eligibility

Participation on all Kings rosters for the Spring 2026 season is by invitation only. Maintenance of eligibility requires compliance with Tomball Kings program rules.

Players must be homeschooled in order to be on a Tomball Kings roster. Non-roster programs, such as Newton sports performance, classes, and camps, are typically open enrollment, subject to student compliance with Tomball Kings rules. Please read our eligibility guide for more complete information on eligibility for Tomball Kings game rosters.

Sports physical

We require an annual sports physical for all student-athletes participating on a Tomball Kings game roster. We use the University Interscholastic League’s Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation form [PDF, 1.8 MB] for this purpose. This two-page form provides for a medical history and physical examination. Parents or legal guardians will complete the medical history in conjunction with the student-athlete. The student-athlete’s physician will complete the physical examination. These forms are due by February 15, 2026 for the Spring 2026 season. A sports physical completed after June 1, 2025 (e.g., one for the Fall 2025 football season) may serve as the basis for the physical examination with the concurrence of the student-athlete’s physician.

Registration

All players who receive and accept a roster invitation for a Tomball Kings Spring 2026 team should compete our Player Information Form and any related registration requirements. We publish this form after the extension of roster invitations.
