Breck Romero '23 commits to Western Illinois
Tomball Kings alum Breck Romero ’23 has committed to Division I Western Illinois after standout performances at the JUCO level.

A defensive anchor behind the plate for three years with the Tomball Kings, Breck Romero ’23 has committed to Western Illinois University. The Leathernecks compete in the Ohio Valley Conference as a Division I NCAA program.
Since graduating from the Kings, Romero has made three collegiate stops. He split his freshman year between San Jacinto College and Cowley College before transferring to Butler Community College for his sophomore season.
At Butler, Romero tallied seven home runs and 37 hits over 43 games. He drove in 34 runs, drew 21 walks, and finished the season with a .296 batting average.
Philip Wilkins, Romero’s high school coach with the Kings, attributes his success to grit and dedication.
“Breck’s dream was to play Division I baseball, and he never wavered or failed to do what was necessary to accomplish it,” Wilkins said. “He was one of the best defensive catchers I’ve seen at the high school level, and I’m incredibly happy to see him reach this milestone.”
Romero is from Montgomery, Texas. His parents, Joey and Mandy Romero, were deeply supportive of his baseball journey and of the Kings program.
