Basketball

Welcome to our inaugural season of basketball.

Please register as soon as possible, but at least by September 26 for junior high / elementary school and October 10 for high school.

Who can play?

• Boys and girls who are homeschooled and otherwise meet our eligibility requirements.
• High school, junior high, and elementary school ages.

We would be pleased to form multiple teams, but must have a minimum of eight players per team.

What are the costs?

• Season cost: $475 / player.
• Annual program fee: $20 / player.
• Uniforms: budget $60 to $80.
• We will invoice you prior to season commencement.

When do we start?

• Junior high / elementary: October 1, 2025.
• High school: December 1, 2025.

When does the season end?

All rosters will finish their seasons by Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the 35th Annual Texas Home School State Basketball Championship, February 5-7, 2026 in Round Rock and Leander, Texas.

When / where will we practice?

• High school: three times weekly, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, starting December 1, 2025. Newton students may be a few minutes late.
• Junior high / elementary: twice weekly, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, starting October 1. Newton students may be a few minutes late.
• Location: Element Sportsplex, 12920 Theis Ln, Tomball, TX 77375 (4-minute drive from Newton program at Texas Sports Medicine Center).
• Holiday break: from December 21, 2025 - January 4, 2026 for junior high / elementary rosters; high school players should expect some practices over the holidays.
• Always wear proper footwear (basketball shoes and socks) and bring a basketball with you to each practice with your initials on it (we have no storage at the gym).

Game schedule?

• High school: interscholastic schedule, as follows:
  • Two local games the week of December 15 to December 20.
  • Space City Jam, Jan. 8-10, 2026, Houston.
  • NCHBC District Tournament, Jan. 23-24, 2026, Bryan.
  • Texas Home School State Basketball Championship, Feb. 5-7, 2026, Round Rock and Leander.
• Junior high / elementary: six tournaments, as follows:
  • 3 Alodia Basketball tournaments (local), Oct. - Dec, on Saturdays.
  • Space City Jam, Jan. 8-10, 2026, Houston.
  • NCHBC District Tournament, Jan. 23-24, 2026, Bryan
  • Texas Home School State Basketball Championship, Feb. 5-7, 2026, Round Rock and Leander.

Conflicts with other sports activities?

Let us know of schedule conflicts you may have so we can attempt to accommodate them.

• Football. High school basketball starts after football ends. If junior high basketball conflicts with a junior high football game, play the football game.
• Baseball. Coach Ziegler encourages baseball players to play basketball and will excuse them from practices (fall or spring) for basketball conflicts.
• Newton. It is acceptable for Newton students to arrive late to basketball practice.
