Our most important training program starts Monday

Tomball Kings off-season training begins Monday. This eight-month program builds strength, confidence, and team unity — and it’s open to high school and physically ready junior high players. Here’s what families need to know.

Each year, more than 75% of our high school players participate in the Tomball Kings Baseball Performance Program. It is the foundation of our off-season development – and a key reason why so many of our players return stronger, more confident, and better prepared each spring.

The 2025-2026 program begins Monday, May 19. If your player has not enrolled yet, please consider what this program offers – and why it is so important to his development.

No other program offers what this one does.

The Baseball Performance Program is team-based, instructor-led, and athlete-specific. It is built for student-athletes and delivered by professionals who train and rehabilitate NCAA and MLB players year-round.

Led by Dennis Fay and Joe Loria, and hosted at the Texas Sports Medicine Center, this program helps our student-athletes build – in a dedicated, baseball-performance facility:

  • Rotational strength and power
  • Speed, agility, and coordination
  • Durability and injury resistance
  • Discipline, confidence, and consistency

It is also our only opportunity to train together during the off-season — and it cannot be replicated in a home gym or commercial fitness setting. Team identity, brotherhood, and accountability start here. The bonds formed in this setting carry directly into the spring season.

Our competitors train together. We must, too.

Athletes at nearly every high school in the Houston area train together in the off-season, across all sports.

Here in Tomball, the baseball teams at Tomball High School, Tomball Memorial, and Concordia Lutheran all train Texas Sports Medicine Center. The Tomball Cougar pitching staff has been there all spring – and continues to train during their playoff run.

But the Tomball Kings are the only team with a dedicated training program at the facility.

Who can participate?

The program is open to high school players and physically ready junior high athletes. Because the training is demanding, all junior high athletes must be screened by our coaches for readiness before participating.

Why now?

Some players feel they need a break after the spring season. We understand — but this is exactly when the next season begins. That's why we always begin training the week after the spring season ends.

The off-season is when transformation happens. Over the next eight months, strength will be built, mechanics refined, and bad habits unlearned. Waiting means losing momentum – and losing time.

An athlete’s window for real physical adaptation is narrow — bounded roughly by puberty and the mid-twenties. During this window, the body most readily responds to work by developing:

  • Bone mineral density
  • Connective tissue strength
  • Balance and symmetry
  • Musculoskeletal and postural development
  • Endurance and force production
  • Range of motion and physical confidence

These benefits go far beyond sports. They are the building blocks of a long, capable, and resilient life. They help a young man become more durable, more confident, more capable of defending himself and his family — and more physically prepared to lead, serve, and thrive.
