Tomball Kings junior high

Tomball Kings junior high

The Tomball Kings junior high division serves seventh and eighth graders (playing ages may range from 13U to 15U).

For the 2023-2024 academic year, the term “playing age” means a player’s calendar age as of April 30, 2024.

We offer players in our junior high division opportunities for spring and fall baseball competition, along with year-round classes and other programs for training and skills development. In the fall season, our junior high teams compete in the Spring Klein Baseball League's 15U division. In the spring season, our junior high schedule features high-school-prep-league competition with other junior high school baseball programs in our area.

Spring is the primary, competitive season for our junior high division, featuring high-school-prep league games as well as two-hour practices, twice per week. In spring, aside from high-school-prep-league games, we may play some interscholastic contests with public or private schools in our area.

During the fall season, we enter teams in Spring Klein Baseball League play, but do not practice, in order to allow players to devote time to other fall sports or athletic activities.

All players on a junior-high-division roster, whether for spring or fall, receive roster invitations pursuant to a player evaluation (“tryout”) conducted by our coaches. We do not carry rosters forward from season to season. Prior to each season, we hold an open tryout that welcomes new and returning players to compete for available roster spots.

We will typically have twelve players on a roster for Spring Klein League games in the fall. All players on the game roster will bat and no player will sit more than one inning at a time. We may field more than one junior high team in a given season, e.g., “Red” and “Blue” teams. For spring interscholastic or prep-league competition, players have no guarantee of playing time.
